Judge Staskal Finally Stops the Boesen Boys/Club Cobeman Run-Away Train

I applaud Judge Douglas Staskal's ruling that Maureen Boesen is not entitled to the $3 million dollar life insurance proceeds because it's his understanding and belief that she signed loan documents where Fraud was committed, whether she realized it or not.

In our country, when you sign on the dotted line, that means you are agreeing to be responsible for paying back the money the bank is loaning to you. How many million people in this country lost their homes to foreclosure when they signed for sub-prime loans? Jerry Wanabee wasn't defending their right to keep their homes even though it was proven that the documents submitted by the Mortgage Broker were fraudulent. It has been the court's opinion that BEFORE you sign for a loan, it's your responsibility to check things out.

This is the first step in proving that CRIMINAL FRAUD was committed by Ed Boesen and more than the likely his co-horts, his brothers, attorneys who set up 46 different LLC's & Corporations and anyone else who facilitated in the commission of Bank Fraud. Judge Staskal obviously wasn't 'bought and paid for', thank God!

Boesen The Florist: Edited Website

The Boesen Brothers have wasted no time in editing brother Ed out of the Boesen the Florist website.

"Boesen The Florist was opened at the present location of its main store and greenhouse of 3422 Beaver Avenue in 1923 by Betty and Theodore Boesen. Today, it is owned and operated by third generation family members,Tom and Frank Boesen? "

Ed Boesen: Dowling's Distinguished Alumi Award??

Ed Boesen is a member of Dowling's Distinguished Alumni. The Distinguished Alumni Award? Dowling initiated the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1988. This annual award recognizes Dowling or St. Joseph graduates who have distinguished themselves and serve as positive role models for the students at Dowling Catholic High School.

Criteria:
An individual must have graduated from Dowling High School or St. Joseph Academy more than 10 years ago. Individuals should be nominated and will be selected on distinction in two of the following areas:

*Distinction in their professional life
*Distinction in service to their community
*Service as a positive and inspiring role model to young adults
*Commitment to the Dowling/SJA community

Compare Ed Boesen's life to that of Michael Ketchmark ‘83(the same year Ed graduated from Dowling)?? Mike Ketchmark represented over 300 families whose loved ones died after a Kansas City pharmacist diluted their chemotherapy drugs in order to make more money selling the drugs. Mike won a 2.2 billion dollar jury verdict for the victims of this horrible crime. Mike was recently selected by his peers as one of the “Best Lawyers” in America. Mike now focuses his practice primarily on civil rights litigation representing the victims of age, race and sex discrimination.

Do you think the folks at Dowling still believe Ed Boesen is a positive role model to young adults??

Dowling Class of '83

I received this e-mail message about an hour ago. It's a link to the Dowling Class of '83 webpage listing the class members who had passed away including Ed Boesen. Is there any truth to the fact that these classmates of Ed Boesen's committed suicide?

http://dowling83.myevent.com/3/miscellaneous1.htm

"Ed, Paul and John went to the same grade school as well (I think). All committed sucide as well. I think John was a lawyer or studying to be a lawyer. He's dad was in prison. I'm not sure if any of this is connected but I know you have the resources to check. John's dad's name is Jack- I think."

The Ties That Bind?

Several of the key players in the Boesen story/Beaverdale development also serve on various boards at the Des Moines Diocese. Kevin Currie is a member of the Des Moines Diocese Building Commission. Dan Manning who is lawyer at Connolly, O'Malley, Lillis Hansen law firm, which also includes Adam Van Dike is on the Catholic Charities Board of the Des Moines Diocese. Last but not least, attorney Bill Lillis is on the Development Board at the Des Moines Diocese.

Maureen's Friend Is A Realtor?

One of Maureen Boesen friends, Jenny Farrell is a realtor with Re/Max Real Estate at 6600 University Avenue. (see her website below) More evidence that Maureen HAD to know what Ed was doing. Her good friend Jenny sold real estate for God's sake, and they would have had conversations about it. Heck Jenny even sells commercial real estate in Marshalltown where Ed Boesen had purchased some property and where he was in the process of buying a bank when he died.

Vacations with Club Cobeman's Wife?

Maureen Boesen was known to take yearly vacations with Chris Coleman's wife, Maureen's sister, and Jenny Farrell -- her best friend from HS. Jenny, of course, is married to the stellar "entertainer" Willie Farrell.

Of course, Ed sent them all over the country on one of his planes and put them up in luxurious locations. Like when Courtney Boesen turned 21 (2006) and Ed sent them along with a bunch of Courtney's friends.

Boesen group pulls out of Rice development deal: From the Des Moines Register

An investment group that included the late Ed Boesen has informed Des Moines school officials that is pulling out of a deal to develop the former Rice Elementary School site .

Rice Development Partners told school officials that it intends to terminate an agreement to purchase the vacant school site at 3001 Beaver Ave. for $650,000.

School officials said in a prepared statement today that they believe the contract is binding and that the district will take action “to mitigate its losses as a result of the breach of contract.”

"It is our position that we have a valid and enforceable contract," Beth Nigut, the school district's lawyer, told The Des Moines Register in late July.

The school board initially decided in 2006 to sell the 4.4-acre school site in Beaverdale to Rice Development Partners for $650,000.

The partners planned to build an $11.6 million residential and retail project on the site, though they had not taken ownership of the property.

The school board later voted to knock off $130,000 to pay for sewer improvements.

The development group includes Boesen's brothers, Tom and Frank. All are related to school board member Connie Boesen, who did not vote on the contract.

Updates on Boesen Court Cases

A few updates on the multiple court cases: Arends Landscape & Construction filed a mechanics lien against Ed Boesen in Cerro Gordo County District Court on Aug 14th. A-C Contractors Inc re-filed their mechanics lien of $19,936.00 + interest accrued against Ed Boesen on August 8th in Polk County. Professional Contracting Service Inc had filed a mechanics lien of $11,104.00 + accrued interest against Ed Boesen on April 22 2008 in Polk County. Kinzler Construction Services Inc filed a mechanics lien of $25, 395.12 + 18% interest against Ed Boesen on July 24th in Polk County, and I noted that the notice to Edward J Boesen was returned to the court as undeliverable last week. Judge Karen Roman recused herself from the First American Bank case against Maureen Boesen and the case was re-assigned to Judge Staskal yesterday in Polk County District Court. Subpoenas were sent to Valley Bank, Freedom Financial & Anchor Bank in the Great Western Bank case against Maureen Boesen.

Maureen's Signatures Closer Together: The Same?

Maureen signed the top document which is a request for co-administrators to be appointed to probate Ed's estate on July 23 2008. The other signature down below was on another court document she signed on August 11 2008. They look different until you look closer. The first signature was smaller, similar to how she signed her name earlier in their marriage. The second signature is bigger and bolder, but it's still the same signature nearly a month after Ed died.

Maureen's Signature? Or Someone Else's?

Do you think Maureen Boesen's signatures on the court documents posted below look the same or did someone else sign Maureen's name? Vote now!

Boesen Milwaukee LLC formerly Lockers Florist

Boesen Milwaukee LLC operates Lockers Florist in Wisconsin which was purchased for $750,000.00 and includes no real estate. The estate administrators recommend transferring Boesen Milwaukee LLC to Metabank. The value of Boesen Milwaukee LLC is less than $2,000,000.00 and Boesen Milwaukee LLC has guaranteed the debts of other Boesen enterprises according to court documents.

Transfer of Property from the Estate: Brooking Partners LLC & Boesen Yacht LLC

On the list of 46 companies owned by Ed Boesen's estate is Brooking Partners LLC organized in Iowa in February 2008. The adminstrators are recommending that the court transfer the assets of Brooking Partners LLC to the two remaining partners, Richard R Clark and Byan Michael. Brooking Partners were in the process of building an experimental facility for Pioneer(net lease) in South Dakota. The project was financed by Pinnacle Bank Marshalltown, however Pinnacle Bank refused to fund further construction unless Richard R Clark and Bryan Michael agreed to personally guarantee the loan at Pinnacle Bank. Ed's estate owned 51% of Brooking Partners LLC, which has 0 equity according to court documents.

The estate administrators are recommending that the Broward Motoryacht 1977, belonging to Boesen Yacht LLC be transferred to Metabank who has a security interest of $2,500,000.00 in the yacht. The captain of the yacht indicated the value of the 1977 Broward Motoryacht to be between $700,000.00 and $1,000,000.00.

First Estate Co-Administrators Quit: Maureen's Request

The first co-administrators quit last week and Maureen Boesen requested on August 11th that CPA Philip Thompson and attorney James Monroe take over those duties. Phil Thompson will be responsible for receiving and making payments and handling all the finances for the estate. According to court documents, the Boesen's Accountant is Brian Drevs who owns Midwest Financial Counseling dba Midwest Financial Consultants. Ed Boesen: The Big 46

Here is the list of 46 different entities organized and/or owned by Ed Boesen from the Estate's Case File:

Exec 1 Aviation To Go Back To First National Bank of Omaha

According to a source, Exec 1 Aviation will go back to First National Bank of Omaha without Ed Boesen's estate disputing it. Ed Boesen had acquired Exec 1 Aviation in early 2008 which consisted of 10 airplanes to which Ed added his own 2 planes. Stay tuned.

What I've Learned

I've received messages and emails from many people who have told me the following:

1. Club Cobeman attempted to pressure an individual to make a decision to benefit Cobeman when the facts didn't support the individual making the decision.

2. Metabank in Sac City is unable to account for $4.2 million dollars but is not disclosing information about it to anyone.

I am following up on this information as well as checking on the status of Exec 1 Aviation in Ankeny. Ed AND Maureen Boesen both signed the $290,000.00 Mortgage at Freedom Financial Jordan Creek in May 2007. The property which is a 4000 sq foot warehouse was assessed at $189,000.00 in 2007. I'm wondering what Ed planned to do with the warehouse at 927 Ordance Rd Ankeny? Why would someone need a warehouse near their Fixed Base Operation/Ankeny Airport? I don't think we need a roadmap to answer that do we?

Club Cobeman

First of all I'd like to thank revgreen for coming up with my new favorite word, Club Cobeman. It aptly describes the goings on with Ed Boesen, Chris Coleman and the Boesen Brothers Bank Fraud Brigade dba Rice Development Partners LLC....... Chris Coleman wore out his welcome on the city council this past week when he lied about the true nature of his business dealings with Ed Boesen and later stammered his way through an interview with the Register because he had no answers. I have the answer and it's Bank Fraud. I would challenge Mr Coleman to prove he wasn't involved in Bank Fraud AFTER he tenders his resignation from the city council ASAP!

Save the Green

I just posted a link to Save the Green website. I haven't been involved with that group however their efforts are appreciated. In the fall of 2006, a group of Beaverdale residents rallied to combat the duping of Beaverdale by the neighborhood association, school board, city council and local business leaders. Save the Green is the grass roots group that circulated petitions, met with every city council member, school board member and attended numerous public meetings regarding the saga. They have had little traction from the local media to expose the groundwork that was laid to usurp a century old public land--Rice Field for the personal gain of a Florist-turned-developer. Save the Green is appealing Judge Hanson's ruling as it sets a dangerous precedent for the transparency in Open Meetings. There are many other issues entangled with Rice Field including the questionable use of TIF in Beaverdale, the role of the neighborhood association in promoting the Boesen development, misleading the residents about revitalization in Beaverdale and the relocation of the neighborhood school to free up Rice Field for development --Main Street Initiative in Beaverdale ( and how this came to be; initiated by Tom Boesen as Beaverdale Village Revitalization Plan)--Lack of parkland in the northwest quadrant which Park Director, Donald Tripp, misrepresented at City Council meeting, of which School Board President Dick Murphy is a member) --The Boesen proposal for Rice Field was not approved of by the Plan and Zoning commission.--The lawyer for the developments of Boesen, Joe's Square and Hy Vee (all in Beaverdale) are represented by the same law firm. The Site Review Committee that selected the Boesen proposal held two closed meeting (Dick Murphy is a member of the site review committee)--Land swap: Prospect Park soccer field was paved for DMPS employee bus parking; Prospect Park was relocated to Rice Field; Rice Field was to be relocated to Hoover High School athletic field.

Maureen's Signature or Fraud?

There are at least 2 different versions of Maureen Boesen's signature on real estate documents filed at the Polk County Recorder. It's interesting to note that her sister worked there between 2005-2007 until she got a promotion to the Polk County Community Center on Franklin Avenue.

Updates!

I will be posting some of the information that I had posted at the Des Moines Register in the next few days. This is a better venue for posting information. I will post links to the Register stories. I want you all that are interested in this topic to freely participate in the discussion anonymously. If anyone has suggestions to make this site better please feel free to speak up. I am open for anything you think might get the information out there.

Des Moines Register Account

Sometimes people delete their accounts at the Des Moines Register for various reasons. That's not important. What's important is making sure the true facts of this case come out. I'm not the story. Remember to keep the comments to the story and not make personal attacks. I welcome comments in disagreement with me, as long as they're not personal attacks. I will delete comments where there are personal attacks against anyone. Personal attacks don't help us tell this story.

Let The Truth Telling Begin

I started this blog to allow the free flow of information about the entire Ed Boesen debacle that began on July 15 2008 when Ed Boesen passed away in Davenport. Since that time the Des Moines Register has done some pretty good reporting of this story but the constraints of a privately owned newspaper made me realize the story could be told much better on my own blog. This is my first try at setting up my own blog so bear with me. I look forward to reading the comments from all of you. I will be putting up as much information as possible with the help of others who have continued to send me private messages. So, here goes!
